Welcome to the online component of the fundraising committee... this is where I will try and let everyone who's interested know about what we're doing as a committee and get anyone who missed a meeting up to speed on what went on at our monthly meetings.

What follows is the first meetings initial agenda as well as some notes about what was said at the meeting.

Brief Overview – financial status and objectives of committee.

The financial committee is established as an adjunct to the Booster Association and it's sole purpose is to spread out the responsibilities of managing the fundraising tasks of the boosters. Our stated goal is to FIRST achieve the $40,000 shortfall which is outside of Fair Share and then to eventually do away with Fair Share requirements altogether.

Asked for someone to take notes - Christina Swan took our notes. (she has terrible handwriting, but I love her still... LOL)

Administrative Fundraising - These include but are not limited to the creation and distribution of a print campaign, the distribution of our fundraising video, the researching and filling out of grant applications and the effective usage of local and national media.

Print Campaign - it was decided that we would begin work IMMEDIATELY on a print campaign, Bonnie Christie agreed to create a writing assignment to give to Evan in order to get the kids writing some "sob stories" before or after class... the plan is to get three or four great stories together as to how band has positively impacted a childs life... and then create a trifold brochure to present to possible donors with our fundraising video.

Fundraising Video - It was discussed that duplication of the video can be handled at the school by Evan and that we would need to present him with blank DVD's in order to make this a reality. Frank Secalic offered up about 40 DVD's... I will also go to Sams' Club and buy a bunch in bulk.

Grant Research, Grant Applications - Kim Glover volunteered her husband to write grant applications for the band. He is a grant writer and is capable of handling this task. Grant research done by Sammy will be given to him, however he can do this as well.

Publicity – Get radio stations to sponsor events, get live remotes for fundraisers. It's been discussed that I will attempt to assist Ernie in getting more enhanced publicity for our fundraising events.

Corporate Begging, SWAG - Contact VIP - It was discussed that we will use our videos and our brochure to ask various companies and VIP's for both financial and material support to help us raise funds. I belong to contactvip.com which is a database of every major stars address and contact info. We will use this database as well as other names to populate our list. XXX's husband is the foreman at the Publix Warehouse, Albertsons and Winn Dixie have offered us free food to help us out too.

Letter Writing Campaign – It was discussed that last year I wrote a letter to my mother asking her to help out the band and she immediately sent us a check. We discussed drafting a letter to have each kid send to their most wealthy relative. We discussed the possibility of us mailing the letter out for the student and having a percentage of return to go towards fair share. Percentage TBD. Bonnie Christy has agreed to create and distribute this letter.

Political Liaison - At some point in the future, we may want to create a political liason to communicate directly with local politicians and their wives. The idea being that these people can provide us with material support and possibly financial support through our local and state governments.

Community Outreach

General - Sammy has tenatively agreed to contact the Ladies Auxiliaries, Retirement Homes, Gated communities and Local area Churches and synagogues to help by doing their own fundraisers to benefit us as a charity.

Adopt a Grandkid - This idea is loosely tied into the brochure and the outreach in general. Our plan is to make the kids with the best stories "adoptable" by the local elderly.... getting material support in exhange for invitations to the games, possibly a letter or two... that sort of thing. We do not have anyone to spearhead this, however I think it'll take care of itself once the other elements are completed.

Newsletter for the participants - It is my intent to create a quarterly newsletter to let everyone in on what the fundraising committee is up to. Hopefully engendering more support and more participation.

DVD on Public Access - We will be presenting the Fundraising Video to Public Access television in the hopes that they will run the video several times throughout the year. Adam Fiveson will be heading this up.

Babysitting - This idea was squashed due to insurance and liability issues.

Event Fundraising - Discussions for events which could help us raise money such as a spaghetti dinner, a monthly picnic or a pancake breakfast (all of which could be done monthly and could contain LITTLE sub-events (per your suggestions) such as a bounce house or a dunk tank), a golf tournament (I'm thinking at Trumps), a "Taste of Santaluces" food festival (for local restaurants), or an afternoon tea.

Spaghetti Dinner - Jean Simpson has agreed to take this on.... adding a movie to it to enhance the event... we may add games to this if the event is done more than once.

Monthly Picnic (bounce house, etc) - SHELVED

Pancake Breakfast - Diana Perez and Tatianna Bassler has agreed to take this on.

More than one Duffys style event - Tatianna Bassler has agreed to take this on.

Golf Tournament - Adam is working with Trump, Evan told us that we used to do a golf tournament but it fizzled due to lack of players.

Taste of Santaluces Festival - Mary Jane and Doug Swan have agreed to take this on.

Afternoon Tea - SHELVED, though Sammy might be working this seperately.

Winter Festival - Jean Simpson, Bonnie Christie and Sheri Masi will be heading this up.

Poker Tournament - Adam Fiveson will be handling this event. 5 tables are coming to the first tournament free of charge.

Used Book Sale - Added to Yard Sale.

Bingo Night - SHELVED, till Poker is done.
Country Fair - SHELVED, Same as Winterfest and similar to Taste of Santaluces.
Mini Carnival - SHELVED
Girls/Boys Night Out - SHELVED
Lock-In Slumber Party - SHELVED
Dog Wash - SHELVED
Car Wash - SHELVED

Band Participation - This category is for projects which DIRECTLY require the participation of the Band. For example, our drum corps is hired to play at an event.

Performances and Practices should be held at stores and in malls during Holidays with a donation tin - Evan said he likes this idea, Adam Fiveson asked for recordings asap.

Recording of performances and sales of CD’s and DVD’s - Evan mentioned that we will be recording everything we do down the road and that we will be able to sell our performances at future events. It's pretty much universally agreed that recordings of our kids will be HUGE sellers. Evan suggested having the arts department create the packaging for such CD's and DVD's.

Santaluces Pops... an evening under the stars - Evan mentioned that another school did a huge production, and raised BIG money. The plan here is to hold a fundraiser concert.

Sales Oriented Fundraising - Donut Sales, Chocolate Bars, Candles, Coupon Books and more... This is the place to discuss all the ideas which revolve around us buying the stuff our kids bring home.

Donut Sales, Chocolate Bars, Candle Sales, Coupon Books, GoTo Card, Online mall (tied to mychiefspace.com), Cookbook, Tomahawks, Buttons, Apparel, 50/50 tickets.

We will be deciding which sales oriented fundraisers will be presented this year.

We will be creating new apparel for sale at the games and at events. Sammy mentioned the need for a tanktop. We talked about the desire to have a similar "show shirt" for our fans to purchase.

We will be selling 50/50's at ALL events.

General Housekeeping

We will be going over the calendar with Evan and Ron to determine a good schedule for these fundraisers and events.

We discussed meeting every month at the end of the month.
