Hello everybody,
I'm hopeful that everyone's summer has been enjoyable and relatively stress-free.
I'm writing today to let you all know about our most recent fund-raising committee meetings at Duffys, which is held on the last Saturday of every month at Duffys restaurant at 1 p.m.
I also thought it would be good for me to write down some notes from the previous meeting since I didn't do this last month... (Life has a funny way of interfering with this stuff, no?).
Please keep in mind that these are just notes with regards to planning and executing our fundraising efforts.
Nothing is written in stone until the board and Evan gives us the OK.

Last month's meeting, was opened with a great discussion about selling a "spot" in the band for a company or corporation to sponsor us.
Someone mentioned Dr Pepper doing this with another band.
We also discussed the need for a storage place for next year's yard sale. Since the meeting, Trish has secured a space for us to store items for sale. (Thanks Trish!)
Someone mentioned Leonard Bernstein and the fact that he left money for kids. I will use my access to my database to provide contact information to Bonnie Cristie, who has agreed to write a letter to that effect.
Bonnie has also created a questionnaire, which she is going to give to Evan for the kids to fill out. These questions will be used to create marketing material such as a brochure and postcard campaign in the upcoming year.
We also have collected a nice amount of blank DVD's for duplicating the fundraising video. These videos are needed ASAP.
Ron Ritz offered to provide us with pancake mix and food for our upcoming planned pancake brunch, Susan Bursey offered to provide us with sterno to keep the food warm.
I proposed putting our fundraising video up on public access television... And I have a call into Comcast about this.
Evan was very excited about this possibility. The fundraising video can be seen here:

I also let everyone know that Donald Trump's organization has offered us free swag from their pro shop for use at an upcoming silent auction.
We also discussed some of the details for the "Taste of Santaluces Festival", which will be held in a town fair format, with tickets sold beforehand and restaurants setting up tables, preparing their signature dishes. Mary Jane Swanson is heading up this effort.
We discussed the creation of a poker tournament. Five tables have been donated by Charity Poker Tour, Inc., one of my clients.
Mrs Orloff has given us permission to use the school for this tournament.
Ron brought up the winter carnival concept which has been discussed many times with the board. Laurie Dolan is the PTA president and has agreed per Ron to pursue their connections in making this a reality this year.
We discussed the creation of a gift wrap booth at a retail locations such as Toys "R" Us or even the mall this holiday season. I don't recall who was tasked with pursuing this opportunity. If anyone is aware of a retail establishment willing to let us set up a booth, please let me know ASAP.
Susan Bursey has indicated that she would like to pursue a stay-at-home tea, and also brought up the idea of pursuing box tops for education fund raising opportunities.
Susan Milligan has agreed to chair the football games, meaning that she will be responsible for staffing the various fundraisers we do there.

The last meeting was held with a very sparse attendance, however we did get quite a bit accomplished.
We discussed the details of doing a box tops for education program, and during the meeting I e-mailed Ms. Orloff who responded by giving us her OK in pursuing it. To the best of our knowledge, no one at the school is using box tops as a fundraiser. We now only need to get the approval of the board to make this happen... then we can get it into the school newsletter.
We also broke out the calendar and discussed proposed dates for new fundraisers.
What follows is a list of the dates that we have defined as optimal days for these events. I expect to present these dates to the board as soon as I can.
Please review these dates and let me know if there are any glaring conflicts.

I welcome any and all comments with regards to the dates...
We purposely left the second Duffys night off of the schedule because it is as yet unclear when the best opportunity would be for us to hold it. I would assume sometime in February would be good.
We distributed $3750 worth of massage coupons at the last band camp, and I'm quite certain that this will represent a very nice fundraiser for the summer months.
I will be collecting the funds on an ongoing basis and I'm hopeful that we will see dividends.
If you are unaware of the massage coupon sales effort. Please let me know and I will fill you in.
We've seen a decent increase in football ad sales, and I anticipate a rush towards the end of this month as the 31st is our cutoff date.
The next fundraising committee meeting will be held on August 30th, and I do hope everyone will attend.
